Joy Division is definitely in my top 10 most favorite groups. They were gone too early due to their lead singer, Ian Curtis, committing suicide the day before they were supposed to tour the US for the first time ever. The only good part of that is the remaining members went on to form New Order. Funny thing about that is Ian never wanted electronics in the band and New Order went on to be one of the biggest electronica bands. Here is their most famous song, ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart.’

For fans of Joy Division, you’ll know how cool this is.  Peter Hook of Joy Division and New Order fame is opening a new live venue at the old Factory Records offices in Manchester.   Factory Records was the label that first signed Joy Division back in the late 70’s.  The venue is opening on January 29th where Peter Hook will perform songs from his back catalog.

This is a chump move if I ever heard one.  Peter Hook of Joy Division/New Order fame admitted that he used to forge Ian Curtis’ signature on various pieces of memorabilia.  He says he did it “as a joke.”  He says

“I did have a reputation for doing Ian Curtis’ autograph for a long time.  There’s some guy who had An Ideal For Living and it was signed by all four members of the band and dated. I went in and said, ‘Have you not noticed that the date is after Ian died?’ It was me, I did them as a joke!”

What a chump!
