Flea Launches Own Bass Guitars

At the school that Flea helped start, the Los Angeles Silverlake Conservatory Of Music, he noticed that the kids were using cheap instruments. So rather than get new ones, he decided to start his very own Bass Guitars that he calls “affordable”. Now I’m no musician but his guitars start at $499. What kid can afford that. I’m not hating. I’m happy he’s doing what he’s doing but couldn’t he make them a bit cheaper? Well here’s the site for his guitars

Replacement Guitarist for Red Hots Confirmed

A couple months ago John Frusciante left Red Hot Chili Peppers to pursue his solo career.  Well it turns out that his friend and previous Red Hots guitarist Josh Klinghoffer has officially replace John as the Red Hots guitarist.  Klinghoffer is no newbie.  Not only did he work with RHCP before but he has a pretty stellar resume working with PJ Harvey, Gnarls Barkley, Butthole Surfers and many others.  I just hope RHCP get back to the more funky side.  No more ballads PLEASE!!

Frusciante Quits Red Hot Chili Peppers

Last week John Frusciante, guitarist for Red Hot Chili Peppers, said he has quit the band after about 12 years with the band.  Don’t trip though, everything is fine with him and the other members.  He just wants to move on and do his own thing.  Here’s what he said:

“To put it simply, my musical interests have led me in a different direction. Upon rejoining, and throughout my time in the band, I was very excited about exploring the musical possibilities inherent in a rock band, and doing so with those people in particular. A couple of years ago, I began to feel that same excitement again, but this time it was about making a different kind of music, alone, and being my own engineer.”

Red Hot Chili Peppers Working on New Album

Back in 2007 after ‘Stadium Arcadium’ the band took a break and worked on some of their own stuff.  Chad Smith worked on getting ‘Chickenfoot’ going, Anthony Kiedis has been developing a TV show, Flea has been back in school studying music theory and John Frusciante released his 10th studio album (I had no idea on that one…..10?).

Well on October 12th they are getting back in the studio to record their next album.  No release date yet but I’ll keep you posted.

Here’s a little older RHCP from 1989.  The Stevie Wonder cover ‘Higher Ground’
