The Mars Voltas Omar Rodriguez and ex-Red Hot Chili Pepper John Frusciante have a new 30 minute instrumental album out called ‘Omar Rodriguez Lopez & John Frusciante’. They say it was recorded many years ago but you just don’t know. The great part is that they are giving the album away for free. You can get it at Omar’s Site
A couple months ago John Frusciante left Red Hot Chili Peppers to pursue his solo career. Well it turns out that his friend and previous Red Hots guitarist Josh Klinghoffer has officially replace John as the Red Hots guitarist. Klinghoffer is no newbie. Not only did he work with RHCP before but he has a pretty stellar resume working with PJ Harvey, Gnarls Barkley, Butthole Surfers and many others. I just hope RHCP get back to the more funky side. No more ballads PLEASE!!
Last week John Frusciante, guitarist for Red Hot Chili Peppers, said he has quit the band after about 12 years with the band. Don’t trip though, everything is fine with him and the other members. He just wants to move on and do his own thing. Here’s what he said:
“To put it simply, my musical interests have led me in a different direction. Upon rejoining, and throughout my time in the band, I was very excited about exploring the musical possibilities inherent in a rock band, and doing so with those people in particular. A couple of years ago, I began to feel that same excitement again, but this time it was about making a different kind of music, alone, and being my own engineer.”
