Congratulations to Big Daddy Kane for getting married yesterday, May 1st. He got married in North Carolina to his bride Shawnette. D-Nice of Boogie Down Productions was in attendance and tweeted “It was a beautiful ceremony. It was an honor to attend his wedding. We have so much history. During the time when my crew (BDP) & his crew (The Juice Crew) were beefing, Kane & I were friends. I was even his hypeman at an Apollo show.”

The 2nd annual Hip Hop Karaoke Championship is taking place on January 29th at New York’s Irving Plaza and Big Daddy Kane will be a judge along with Buckshot.  What a perfect judge for this competition; one of the greatest emcees of all time.   There will be 12 people competing for $1,000 and of course the title of Hip Hop Karaoke Champion.

Aww the great Big Daddy Kane will finally have a feature-length documentary done about him. Titled BDK, Kane will narrate on his beginnings growing up in Brooklyn and his introduction into the Hip Hop culture. Other topics in the documentary will be Kanes influence on Hip Hop fashion and the visual presentation of the emcee along with his lyrical impact through his solo catalogue and Juice Crew contributions. The film will be directed by Anthony Marshall, co-founder of the Lyricist Lounge. No release date has been announced but you KNOW I’ll be all over this. Kane has been a favorite of mine. I saw him last year and he just blew me away. You know how live Hip Hop can be (5 guys in the background yelling “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah” while grabbing their crotch). The new fools need a lesson from this man!
