Amy Winehouse Documentary

Well you knew it was coming. Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Asif Kapadia and Universal Music are working together to bring us Amy Winehouse’s life and career.

“This is an incredibly modern, emotional and relevant film that has the power to capture the zeitgeist and shine a light on the world we live in in a way that very few films can,” said Kapadia.

I feel like this movie’s going to be a mess….much like she was.

27 Club – Musicians Who Died at 27

A while back people starting noticing that 27 seemed to be the strange age that music legends passed on. Then it really sunk in when Any Winehouse died back in July at….27. I’ve done some research and made a list of the musical people who have passed at 27:

Robert Johnson (1911-1938) Not really discovered until the 60’s, he was a blues singer and guitarist that only recorded 29 songs between 1936 & 1937. He was allegedly poisoned by a lover’s jealous boyfriend or husband.

Brian Jones (1942-1969) Founding member of the Rolling Stones, he had a severe substance abuse problem that forced him out of the group. A month after being kicked out of the Stones, he was found at the bottom of his swimming pool.

Alan Wilson (1943-1970) A member of Canned Heat, Alan had poor vision and struggled with mental illness. After previously attempting suicide he finally died of a drug overdose.

Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970) He needs no explanation. Probably the greatest guitarist to ever live, he died asphyxiating on his own vomit while sleeping.

Janis Joplin (1943-1970) First as the lead singer of Big Brother and the Holding Company then as a solo artist, she unfortunately got addicted to heroin and alcohol and died of an overdose, less than 3 weeks after Jimi Hendrix.

Jim Morrison (1943-1971) Lead singer of The Doors and also a poet and an avid reader of philosophy. Addicted to alcohol and heroin, he died of a heart attack caused by a heroin overdose.

Ron “Pigpen” McKernan (1945-1973) Founding member of the Grateful Dead. Even though he wasn’t into LSD or other drugs, his drinking caused him to develop cirrhosis and died of an internal hemorrhage.

Kurt Cobain (1967-1994) Founding member and singer of Nirvana, he struggled with mental illness, chronic health problems and heroin addiction. He committed suicide in the garage of his home.

Amy Winehouse (1983-2011) Her songs were a great mix of R&B, soul and Jazz and was just at the start of her career.  Unfortunately Amy battled drug and alcohol abuse for many years. She was found dead in her London apartment.

Winehouse Dress Sells At Auction

On the cover of the great ‘Back to Black’ album from Amy Winehouse, she wore a white with red polka dot dress with an ugly red belt. Well it went up for auction yesterday in London along with other items from Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn.

Believe it or not, that dress sold for……$67,000. WOW pretty crazy. Some people have money to burn. Check it out below
