Brian Eno was said to be putting out a solo album later this year but its been updated to be a collaboration between Eno, Leo Abrahams and Jon Hopkins. Leo Abrahams is a guitarist and composer who’s worked with Eno for a few years along with Paul Simon and others. Jon Hopkins is a electronic composer and producer. You can see the three working here at the Sydney Opera House. It gets going around 4 1/2 minutes in. Pretty interesting.

Ok so I’m sure you heard about Dr. Dre and his “Beats By Dre” that he started with Jimmy Lovine from Interscope records. Well HP created a laptop and netbook line called “Envy” and the ad campaign with ‘Under Pressure’ which collaborates Dre with Jay-Z as the soundtrack. Check out the ad:

Bryan Abrams of the great 90’s R&B group Color Me Badd was arrested in Hawaii on July 20th on suspicion of harassment. Well actually the report is he got into an argument with his wife and threw here across the room. What a jerk. I did some research and this isn’t the first time. Back in 2008 he punched his girlfriend in the face at some restaurant in Oklahoma City while screaming “I’m A Kill You! You and Me! You and Me! Wow.

Kool G Rap is coming out with an album and he says it’s gonna reveal parts of his life never told before. Alright Alright. He told AllHipHop.com:

“I haven’t been this passionate about s**t in a long time, so when someone asks me a question about it I got so much s**t to say, its not just recording a song, this is spilling my f**king guts out there. This is G Rap right here, from childhood to adulthood. This is the part that I’ma give the people. This is G Rap being excited about even doing this s**t again. There’s been times in my life I lost interest, or even desire to do this s**t. But this, is me.”

You might have already heard but Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails has started a new band with his wife ‘Mariqueen Maandig’ called ‘How to Destroy Angels’. Here’s a track from their album called ‘The Space In Between’. It’s nice and dark…just how I like it.

Word has it that Dave Wakeling of English Beat has a few songs up his sleeve and will putting out an album. He says he has 17 demos ready to go that he’s been playing over they years while touring. Their last album was 1982’s ‘Special Beat Service’. The thing he’s been thinking about is how he is going to release their music. He told Billboard.com:

“I’ve been talking with some record companies, trying to compare that to going about it independently by ourselves — and I’m sort of heading in the second direction, I think. It seems like the paradigm is in transition. The (labels) don’t have the money to let you make a record anymore, but they still want all the rights that were theirs a decade ago. We’ve had a few offers to produce the record without the record companies involved, so that may be the best way to go.”

Wow this is sweet. Thomas Dolby is putting out an album after 20 years of NOTHING! It’s called ‘A Map of the Floating City’ and will be coming out later this year. Some special guests are Mark Knopfler, Regina Spektor and others. He’s gonna do a teaser three to four song EP before the full album that you can get at his site The Flat Earth Society if you’re a member. Just sign up and get the EP.
