The Beastie Boys have wanted to do a book for years but the last few years they had to focus on the health of Adam “MCA” Yauch, who passed away in May 2012. Mike D and Ad-Rock will create the memoir focusing on the band’s career. The untitled memoir will be edited by Sacha Jenkins, co-founder of Ego Trip magazine and creative consultant on The Boondocks TV show.

The book is expected to hit stores and tablets in the fall of 2015.

Coming out on June 26 is a new biography on Iron Maiden titled ‘Iron Maiden: The Ultimate Unauthorized History of the Beast’. It’s written by Neil Daniels who’s already written some good biographies on Judas Priest, Linkin Park and Bon Jovi. The hardcover book will have over 200 pages with over 400 photos and cover every era of the band beginning in 1975 when the band was formed.

Along with Steven Tyler and Joey Kramer, Joe Perry of Aerosmith is also writing an autobiography.  This came from Joe Perry’s twitter account as

“Officially started writing my biography this week. More info. to come soon re: publisher, tentative release date, etc…”

You would think Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue would be done after writing 2 books, The Heroin Diaries and This is Gonna Hurt.  Now not only is he writing another book, but he’s writing TWO!  While he doesn’t really say what they will be about, he did mention when they would be out.

“I am working on it now… I am hoping to release it somewhere between May-June 2012.  I am writing two books as we speak actually. The 2nd book will be out in 2013.”

Five-Time Grammy Award winner Shania Twain is writing an autobiography that is set to be released on May 3rd.  The book will be published by Atria Books and is titled “From This Moment On”.  She hasn’t released many albums but she’s won 27 BMI Songwriter awards and sold over 75 million albums worldwide.  Not bad eh!

AC/DC is putting out a new limited edition photo book called “AC/DC Black Ice World Tour 2008-2010” which will have over 250 photos taken over the 2 years of the tour. The photos were taken by Matteo Abruzzo who was lucky enough to travel with them to get all these great photos.

Ziggy Marley has created…..Marijuanaman. It’s going to be a comic written by Man of Action Studios Joe Casey with illustration by Jim Mahfood and will come in an oversized deluxe hardcover graphic novel.

Marley states “Marijuanaman represents the hope of the future… the hope that we will utilize all of the power that the universe has given us to save our planet.”

The 48 page full cover hardcover will hit stores at $24.99 this year on….wait for it….April 20th!!

Zakk Wylde is putting out a book that will discuss all his craziness and touring life. The book is called ‘Bringing Metal To The Children” and it will be out May 10th. Beyond the tour bus and backstage he will discuss being in the Ozzy band and his band Black Label Society along with tour planning, tips for being a metal musician and surviving a mosh pit. Should be good.

Due out in March 2011, Nikki Sixx is releasing his follow up book to ‘The Heroin Diaries’ called ‘This is Gonna Hurt’. It will also include a documentary and a soundtrack album by his band ‘Sixx:AM’. It was described by his publisher as “part photo, part journal, but all Nikki Sixx.

I’ll know him more by Johnny Rotten but he has a scrapbook that came out last week. It’s a pretty big book at 14″ x 14″ and has over 250 pages of personal images and hand written quotes. The book is limited to 750 numbered books and will come with a 12″ picture vinyl that is hand built into the back cover of each book. You can get it here if you have the money. It’s not cheap.

Tashera Simmons, DMX’s estranged wife, is writing a book on her boo. Tashera has four kids with DMX and has dated DMX since she was 18. She’ll be discussing their relationship and things DMX missed in his own biography ‘E.A.R.L.: Ever Always Real Life’. She talks about the book that is scheduled to come out in September:

“It’s a memoir. It’s the story about our life – and my life – together. My side of the story… I feel like in his book, he didn’t really get into detail. I think that my book kinda explains everything… It’s a positive tell-all. We go so far back, it’s more than husband and wife… I think it’s gonna be really inspirational.”

Dave Mustaine of Megadeth has finally finished his biography titled ‘Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir.’ The book is set to come out on August 3rd or you can pre-order at Amazon.

Berklee College Of Music is giving away a free music business handbook. The book is filled with music business tidbits from topics such as “Challenges of the Music Industry”, “Music Royalties” and many others. You just have to put in your email to get it but its worth it. Get it here:

Any fans of Ratt? Eh, I can’t say I don’t like them. Well their drummer Bobby Blotzer is publishing his autobiography titled ‘Tales Of A Ratt – Things You Shouldn’t Know’.
