Ahh yes, Patti Smith is putting out a greatest hits album coming in August. The title is ‘Outside Society’ and will go all the way from 1975 to 2007.

The first US number one for Motown was ‘Please Mr. Postman’ by The Marvelettes released in 1961. A couple of years later they had another number one by Stevie Wonder called ‘Fingertips’

Written by Eric Clapton (help from Will Jennings), he wrote the song after his four-year old fell out of a 53rd floor window of a New York apartment building. It came out in January 1992 for the soundtrack of ‘Rush’. Apparently Clapton stopped playing it in 2004 saying he didn’t feel the loss anymore which was so much a part of that song.
