Paul Simon Going Old School on Album

Paul Simon’s new album called “So Beautiful or So What” will come out this April and he says that he wants to make music they way he used to back in the 70′s.

“Since Graceland, I’ve always made the record based on either making the tracks or the percussion first,” Simon said. “This time the stimuli was a guitar in my lap. That takes me back to ‘Still Crazy After All These Years’ or ‘Something So Right.’”

TDK Boombox is Sick!

The word’s been out for about a month but I finally got around to checking it out. The TDK Boombox is pretty cool but for $399/$499 you can get much better products for that price. Check out the pic then the Cnet review on it.

The good: The TDK Three Speaker Boombox delivers a finely tuned, powerful sound in a portable system with an unforgettable design. Features such as AM/FM radio, as well as RCA and instrument input, set it apart from the competition.

The bad: There’s no way to secure your iPod/iPhone or other connected device; support for Bluetooth is absent; radio antennas are handled by two dangling wires; no remote; hefty weight and battery-hungry design make portability impractical.

The bottom line: TDK’s Three Speaker Boombox is as beautiful as it is powerful, but the hefty design does not travel well.

Well actually Chris Martin discusses the new album. Chris spoke to NME about the new album claiming they want this one to be their Masterpiece. For the album they moved away from Brian Eno and went to Markus Dravs (Bjork, Arcade Fire). Chris Martin says:

“We still don’t think we’ve delivered our masterpiece, so we’re still trying to do it. As long as we feel like that and we’re hungry… that’s all that matters.”

You guys know about the Jam Cruise? It’s an annual festival of jam bands that heads out on a cruise ship. Well on January 4th it was raided while it was sitting in a Florida dock. While there were only small quantities of drugs, they found LSD, ecstasy and mushrooms. Oh geez big news right? I’m sure it costs tons of money to raid the ship. What a waste.
