Electronic group Underworld will write the score for a musical theater performance ‘Frankenstein’ directed by Danny Boyle. The show will open in London in 2011.
Underworld had their song ‘Born Slippy’ in the 1996 movie Trainspotting.
My favorite song from them is ‘Cowgirl’. Check it out.
Island Records was founded in Jamaica in 1959 by Chris Blackwell and Graeme Goodall. The label was named after 1955 Alec Waugh novel, Island In The Sun (later a hit song for Harry Belafonte). The company moved to the UK in May 1962 and, until Blackwell sold the label to PolyGram in 1989, was the largest indie record label in history.

A couple days ago at the Hot 106 Holiday Hot Night 2010, BowWow said he had an album coming out in 2011 on Cash Money Records. The album is called ‘Underrated’ and the first single is produced by Boi-1da.
So the people who own Michael Jacksons Neverland Ranch (Colony Capital) want to turn it into a teen music school. Yep, they want young adults to study about writing and performing. The last people who have to approve is Santa Barbara County and Jackson’s Estate. Sounds like an interesting idea!

We’re particularly excited about the new album & we look forward to presenting a mix of new & more familiar songs when we tour. We have all missed the excitement of performing live & are very excited to introduce the new chaps to the Whitesnake Choir.”
Trent Reznor has been nominated for a Golden Globe award for the score for The Social Network. It won’t be easy to win this though with people like Danny Elfman also being nominated (Alice in Wonderland) and many other experienced composers. Let’s see if he can bring it home when the awards are presented on January 16th.

Due out in March 2011, Nikki Sixx is releasing his follow up book to ‘The Heroin Diaries’ called ‘This is Gonna Hurt’. It will also include a documentary and a soundtrack album by his band ‘Sixx:AM’. It was described by his publisher as “part photo, part journal, but all Nikki Sixx.
Sometime in 2011, Van Halen is actually releasing a new album AND it’s with David Lee Roth. The little Wolfgang Van Halen has joined with his dad and will be on the album. Funny thing is that they have been sending the music to David Lee Roth so he can add the lyrics. I guess they don’t want to hang with him during the recording. I’m kinda excited about this.
So earlier this year they posted a pic of them in the studio asking if anyone was in the mood for a reunion. Over the last couple of months, they have put out these little snippets of songs that they have been working on. I guess something will be coming out soon. I think these are pretty damn good.
