At a recent Green Day show, frontman Billie Armstrong announced to everyone that the show was being recorded for a new live album. Then to make things even better for everyone there, they performed a brand new song called ‘Cigarettes and Valentines’. Here’s a video of that announcement and new song.
This is kinda freaky looking. Madame Tussauds in Washington D.C. has made a wax figure of Rhianna that looks way too real. She joins the list of other wax figures such as Barack and Michelle Obama, Jonas Brothers, Rosa Parks and many others.
Damn just when you think he’s done it all, he comes up again. He started a new line of clothing for the New York Yankees with hoodies, hats and t-shirts that will go on sale today. The line will be for both women and men and will have the logo from Jay-Z’s The Blueprint 3. He created the line to commemorate the first official stadium concerts on September 13th and 14th when he and Eminem will co-headline a concert there.
Black Eyed Peas singer Taboo has started his own shoe line to debut on September 10th. The ‘Taboo Deltah 3008 will be available through Foot Action and the higher priced ‘Taboo X Jump’ you can get at Saks.
So this is pretty amazing. During the 2010 Ozzfest tour, Ozzy has been joined by 10 year old Yuto Miyazawa who does his best Randy Rhoads impression by playing ‘Crazy Train’ on stage. I posted about this little guy when he appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show last year and here he is actually playing with Ozzy. Here’s a video of the performance from the August 21st show in Hartford, Connecticut.
Bon Jovi is putting out a greatest hits compilation on November 9th titled…well….’Greatest Hits’. Wow how boring. It will come out in one disc or two disc versions with one disc having 16 songs with two new songs and the two disc version having 28 tracks and two new songs.
Steve Miller, creator of the great songs “The Joker” and “Fly Like an Eagle”, is going to be a professor at the USC Thornton School of Music during the 2010-2011 school year. The dean of the school said in a statement “To say we are thrilled about Steve joining our faculty would be an understatement. This is an amazing opportunity for the students at USC Thornton. Clearly, Steve cares deeply about the next generation of musicians and wants to be a part of their growth. His willingness to share his incredible experience with our students will undoubtedly transform their experience.”
Miller is having a great year with his ‘Bingo1′ album that came out in June hitting #1 on the Billboard blues chart and now this. Pretty cool.
Last week Scissor Sisters put out a new video for ‘Any Which Way’. The new single will be out on September 20th and this video was shot in London in just 2 days. Here is the video and the current tour dates.

You can check out a preview here: Sessions
I’m not a fan of either Insane Clown Posse or Tila Tequila but this is a great story. I don’t know why but Tila Tequila was at the Gathering of the Juggalos in Illinois this weekend on stage doing who knows what. Well the fans didn’t like her and were throwing rocks and bottles at her and…oh ya… SHIT too. She ran offstage with security to her trailer but the fans followed her and surrounded her trailer. Check out her face….hahaha
Primus is offering some of their tour rehearsal tracks they did at their studio in San Rafael California for free. Les Claypool says: “I haven’t rehearsed a band this hard since Frog Brigade decided to perform Pink Floyd’s epic Animals album. Having Jay back in the band has rejuvenated our excitement for Primus and being that he is one of my favorite drummers in the world, the music that is coming out of us is beyond anything we’ve ever done before. It’s like ‘sultry-acid-space-rock’.”
This must be the new direction for old groups who are out of the scene. They find other band members from old groups and get together to form….THE SUPERGROUP (in a scary echo voice).
It’s Jaime St. James and Pete Holmes from Black ‘N Blue, former Ratt bassist Juan Croucier and Jon E. Love of Love/Hate forming the ‘Hardrock Allstars’. So word is they play a mix of pop, metal and hard rock from the 70s and 80s. Wow, good for them.
DMX was released from prison today after serving 18 of his 90 day term for probation violation. He went to jail for testing positive for cocaine earlier this year. Let’s hope he gets his shit together this time.
I really don’t know about this one but Fred Schneider of The B-52′s is doing a Christmas album. It will have 11 original holiday songs by his band The Superions. What a trip. Check the video to hear what it will sound like.
