Introducing…..MOG

I’ve been a member of a few music streaming sites over the years but I have to say that I’m pretty excited about MOG. December 2nd is the day they will go live and for $5 a month you will get a huge on-demand library of music. With Rick Rubin on the board of directors, this has got to be good. Check out the video of the MOG guys explaining the site.

Can You Freestyle For 8 Hours?

I had no idea that someone had freestyled for such a long period of time.  The current Guiness Book of World Records longest freestyle was set by Canadian rapper D.O. at a crazy 8 hours and 45 minutes.   Rapper M-Eighty is attempting to break that record on December 19th and also to raise money for the International Studies Program at Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis and the Timmy Foundation.  His goal is to raise $30,000.  Well at least there is a great cause for this as well.

Jackson’ Moonwalk Glove Sells Big

For some reason I thought this piece was already sold but I guess not.  Michael Jacksons rhinestone encrusted glove that he wore on the infamous Motown 25th Anniversary Special TV show back in 1983 when he first showed everyone the Moonwalk sold for $350,000.  It went to Hoffman Ma, a Hong Kong business man for his hotel in Macau China.

Busta Rhymes Album Coming

Busta is dropping an album finally sometime in early 2010 called ‘The Chemo’.  Guest stars include Diddy, Wyclef and the women beater…I mean Chris Brown.  He told Billboard.com

I called the album ‘The Chemo’ because it seems like the industry and music overall is dying slowly. The cancer that’s stricken the business is killing the music, not only from a business standpoint, but also the value of the content and the creativity behind it. I just want to start the first stage of chemotherapy treatment that needs to take place and hopefully inspire others to do their part and contribute to different stages of the cure.

Let’s hope the quality has picked up from his last couple albums.

Music Cakes

Music Radar did a story on some of the best music style cakes out there so I had to show you my 2 favorite ones.

The first one of the turntables is from Yummy Cake Company but unfortunately they are in the UK. I was completely blown away by this one. The other one equally as amazing is from Cakes By Sam. So Sick!

Big Boi and His Tax Issues

Damn why does it seem like everyone is getting busted for tax issues.  Big Boi of Outkast is the new one this month.   He owes the State of Georgia more than $55,000 in delinquent state taxes, so they say.  The lien was filed back in June so I don’t know why we are hearing about it now.  I don’t understand how people with a successful career and obviously makes good money run into these problems.  I hope he gets it taken care of.

Rock N’ Roll Wine

‘Wines That Rock’ have put out wines inspired by The Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd.  Co-Founder Ron Roy has put together ‘Forty Licks Merlot’ and ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon Cabernet Sauvignon’.  Sounds pretty interesting.  I just hope the quality is as good as the albums they represent.  Their site is Wines-That-Rock so check it out if you want to order.

Public Image Ltd. Re-Release

John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten from the Sex Pistols) is going on tour with his band PiL, Public Image Ltd. on December 15th.  Bummer its going to be in the UK only because I would LOVE to see him play.  I have all PiL’s albums….yes albums as in vinyl.  Well to get people back into him, he’s reissuing their 1979 album ‘Metal Box’ along with a three-CD set with 64 tracks and rarities including the John Peel sessions and remixes. Here’s an old video

Souls of Mischief New Album….Finally

Finally after 9 years Souls of Mischief  are putting out an album on December 1st.  It’s titled ‘Montezuma’s Revenge’ and it was produced by the great ‘Prince Paul’.  Just because they haven’t put out an album in this long doesn’t mean they haven’t been putting out music.  A-Plus, Opio, Phesto and Tajai have been putting out solo albums or collaborating on various albums.  I’m pretty excited about this.

Music Quote TidBit

“Sam Phillips always encouraged me to do it my way, to use what ever other influences I wanted, but never to copy … that was a great rare gift he gave me: believe in myself, right from the start of my recording career… if there hadn’t been a Sam Phillips, I might still be working in a cotton field” – Johnny Cash
