Gift of Gab’s Album…..Finally

Gift of Gab is finally coming out with his second album, after what . . .five years.  It’s a follow up to ’4th Dimensional Rocketships Going Up’ and will be coming out on November 3rd.  Here is what he had to say:

“The name of the album is…Escape2 Mars, and a lot of the title song has to do with global warming.” “There’s all of the talk about the Mayan calendar and 2012, so I’ve been reading about it a little bit. Like I’ve said, I’m not trying to say that I’m in a position to preach or say what it is or isn’t, it’s just interesting information. A lot of it was inspired by that.”

Here’s a little taste of his first album

Gibson’s Jimi Hendrix Piano…Noooooo!

Man, this is just terrible.  What’s going on with Gibson?  They are coming out with a Jimi Hendrix piano called “The Baldwin Hendrix Custom Grand.”  It has a bunch of ugly drawings all over it and is listed for $168,848.   It was on the Gibson site but for some reason it got taken down.  Here are some pics I found of it.

Phil Collins Won’t Be Drumming Again

Phil Collins has been playing drums for a long time. Dating back to the Genesis days. Well after all these years, he says that due to the way he’s been playing the drums, it forced his vertebrae together, crushing his spine. Yikes!! Over the past couple years, he even resorted to taping the drumsticks to his hands because of the pain. So after 50 years he has stopped drumming altogether. Bummer!

Drum for Tommy Lee

So check this.   Tommy Lee is giving you the chance to be on his next Methods Of Mayhem album.  On October 5th you can download his raw tracks then add your own guitars, beats, drums etc. then send it right back to him.  You could be credited on the next release of his Methods Of Mayhem album.

Hmm, I wonder if it’s a hit, would the creator get any residuals?  What if it makes $100,000.  Do you just get credit?  I guess it’s cool either way.  A good way to get your foot in the door.

Why You Pay $35 for a Tour Shirt

I was reading the recent edition of Rolling Stone and they were pointing out the reasons why we pay so much for a concert T-shirt.  Here is what they said:

$3.98 – Taxes and fees

$7.76 – Venue fee split between vendor and promoter

$9.26 – The merchant company takes a big chunk for expenses

$14.00 – What the band finally ends up with – 40%

Wow, I never even thought about that.  That sucks.
